Resolve this New Year to Pass the Baton well to the next generation. PASS and BATON are acronyms Faithful Fathering uses to encourage dads on the journey - The ‘P’ is for being Purpose-filled. The question becomes one of whose purpose a dad identifies with. Typically, all fall under one or more of three primary identities - Identity in the world, in self or in the Trinity.

Identity in the world is ...read on

Peace? Are you kidding me? With all the noise in this world, is peace even possible? ‘Peace’ has been defined as “freedom from disturbance; tranquility,” at least per the Webster’s dictionary. I think of the kid walking through the crowd with his noise-cancelling headphones, oblivious to the world around him, undisturbed and tranquil. Is that peace? ...read on

Joy is an emotion and men do not typically like to show emotions. How is a dad supposed to lead the way to Christmas in joy? One example is King David’s leadership when the ark of God was brought to the City of David. In 2 Samuel 6:14, it says, “Wearing a linen ephod, David was dancing before the Lord with all his might.” King David was elated, and led the way in joy to get the ark of God in its rightful place. Should not the birth of Christ spark such elation, a joyful response as we bring in the Christmas season?

In this third week of Advent, the candle lit rekindles the ...read on

What do you have faith in? Do you have faith in all those folks filling the five lanes beside you on the highway, that they will stay in their respective lanes as traffic moves at a pretty good clip? Do you have faith in the doctor’s report? Of course, you have to have faith in your job, that the paychecks will continue and that health insurance is secure. And in family, you have faith they will always be there for you. Right?

In this second week of Advent, the candle lit represents ...read on

Retailers have led the way for Christmas shoppers starting the end of October – Decorations were put up, Christmas music played in the background and the enticements began. ‘Black Friday’ sales started a couple of weeks before Thanksgiving. Then, last week the real ‘black Friday’ hit. Now it is December and it is time for dads to lead the way to CHRISTmas. A family focus on Advent can help remind all of the Reason for the season, the Christ-child’s birth.

Advent, starting ...read on

Christmas decorations were being put up in many stores before Halloween. And ‘black Friday’ began on Wednesday, the week before Thanksgiving this year at many fine retail outlets. Wow! At this pace, Christmas will be here by the weekend!

So, this Thursday we will slow down a bit, at least for a few hours to ...read on

“Thank you for coming beside us. We feel like we are the forgotten warriors.” This was the comment from a new core group of dads recently that confirms Faithful Fathering as an ‘upstream’ ministry. Faithful fathers are the solution to many societal woes. The charge is to encourage and equip the ‘forgotten warriors’, dads, to raise the bar for fathering individually and corporately in the Church. A generation is in the balance.

Faithful Fathering is on a mission to ...read on

This is the 21st century! What do you mean “Armor On”?

In the Dad’s Armor study, men are reminded that we are in a spiritual battle for family and we need to put the full armor of God on! (Ephesians 6:11-17)

“Put on the full Armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” The devil knows your buttons, your playbook. Find a battle buddy with whom you can be vulnerable and will hold you accountable, and take your stand.
“…Stand firm then ...read on
