Pray early and often for your children, individually by name. I guarantee the reason I am here sharing these insights with you is that my mother prayed for me every day from when I was in her arms to when she went into the Lord’s arms September 6, 2010. If you know my story, you are familiar with the power of prayer in my life. If you don’t, I welcome the opportunity to meet you for a cup of coffee or speak to your group sometime.

For now, hear Paul, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” (Philippians 4:6)

Prayer guide:
Praise and thanks be to You Lord for my child …
Lord, I ask that You protect and guide my child … (specific activities, etc.)
I ask that Your strength be in and with my child … (specific gifts, events, etc.)
As he/she matures, surround him/her with Christian friends … (school, sports, other environments, etc.)
And as a young lady, bless her with a young man in her life that is well grounded in his Christian faith, that is growing in his walk with You, that will love and care for her as You love and care for Your Church. Teach her to love and respect him as Your Church loves and respects You.
(And as a young man, bless him with a young lady in his life that is well grounded in her Christian faith, that is growing in her walk with You, that will love and respect him as Your Church loves and respects You. Teach him to love and care for her as You love and care for Your Church.)
Bless them with a happy and healthful marriage and family, with children that will come to know You just as they have. And, that their children and their children will grow in Your Word and in Your Love, thanks to the seeds planted and nurtured this day. Amen.

Tips for Prayer:

  1. Set a time, lean into any awkwardness and let God flow through.
  2. Pray for and with your kids daily – ask about specific concerns and share yours.
  3. Pray for and with your wife daily – ask about specific concerns and share yours.

A faithful father prays for and with his family every day.
