Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky, has been blessed with a history of great revivals since 1905. There have been several occasions when significant moves of the Holy Spirit have swept the campus and reached across the nation. One such occasion was in February, 1950, when a student testimony led to confessions, victories and more testimonies. This went on uninterrupted for 118 hours and became the second leading news story nationwide.

Another occasion was on February 3, 1970, when again, a spirit of powerful revival came upon the congregation. The chapel was filled with rejoicing people. Classes were cancelled for a week during the 144 hours of unbroken revival. Some 2000 witness teams went out from Wilmore to churches and at least 130 college campuses around the nation. And God is moving again! On February 8, 2023, at Asbury University, 14 days, 324 hours of unbroken revival began. And while the University has had to make decisions to move the outpouring off campus, the Holy Spirit continues to spread to other campuses across the nation.

If my people who are called by My name humble themselves, and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. – 2Chronicles 7:14. We are a people and a nation in need of forgiveness and healing. Revival, be it in a dad’s heart, in family, in the Church, in a university or across the nation, involves these four facets the Lord God calls us to:

  • Be humble before the Lord, accepting Him as Savior and serving Him as Lord;
  • Lift up prayer in adoration of Him. As Paul instructed, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”-Phil.4:6-7;
  • Seek His face – Keep God the number one priority, the desire of your heart; and,
  • Repent – Turn around, go the opposite direction sin is taking you today. As Jesus said to the woman caught in adultery, “Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more.”- John 8:11.

In humility, the natural flow is to go to prayer and seek the Lord’s face. In the process, one is convicted of sin and the need to confess and repent. This is revival of the heart and it is contagious! Let revival explode and turn hearts to the Father!

The Jesus movement was an evangelical Christian revival that began on the west coast of the United States in the late 1960s and spread across the nation. This powerful story is brought to life again under God’s perfect timing in the Erwin Brothers’ new film, Jesus Revolution. It opens in theaters across the nation on February 24, 2023. It is a must see!

Prayer guide: Father, thank You for Your word and for revival. I confess that I allowed pride to run over humility, self-affirmation to impede prayer and success to cloud Your face. Forgive me. Thank You for humbling me through circumstances only You could orchestrate, for opening my heart to a renewed prayer life that illumines Your face beautifully. I confess that I sinned against You and repent. Grant me strength to lead my family in revival this Lenten season by Your grace and for Your glory. That is the dad You call me to be and that’s the dad my kids need to see. Amen.

Thank you for the update. I pray the revivals can keep going. We need hours of revival followed by years of living differently. Keep being the salt and the light that you are!
