In a recent interview, ex-New York Times journalist Bari Weiss stated that the world has gone mad – “Where can I start? … When you’re not able to say out loud and in public there are differences between men and women, the world has gone mad. … When in the name of progress, young school children, as young as kindergarten, are being separated in public schools because of their race, and that is called progress instead of segregation, the world has gone mad.”

These are just a couple of the dozen or so examples that Ms. Weiss cited but they are foundational issues the schools are trying to navigate through today. Parents are ...read on

Pick your crisis these days – the border, inflation, crime, Covid, foreign relations and national debt to list a few. By the way, have you tried to increase your credit card limit to $10,000,000 dollars recently so you can live well beyond your means for a while? You will probably not get approved and are more likely to get laughed at. Yet the federal government unashamedly keeps raising their debt limit and spending money beyond the nation’s means.

Enthusiasm is not the word that comes to mind when I look at our nation’s health and well-being. But apathy is not the answer! Enthusiasm is exactly ...read on

One young man was adopted as an infant by a wonderful couple. After adopting him, the couple had two biological children so he grew up with siblings in a healthy family setting. He had a very good childhood yet there was an innate desire to connect with his biological mom and dad. His adoptive parents were very supportive and upon graduation from college, opened the door for him to connect with his birth mother.

Another young man grew up in a home where he experienced ...read on

The young man playing third base for the Washington Nationals was interviewed after winning the World Series in 2019. The announcer commented that the player’s resting heartbeat must be about four and jump to twelve when excited. He asked, “How are you able to project such peace and calm through intense competition?” Anthony Rendon responded, “I understand there are bigger things going on in this world. My Savior is Jesus the Christ and He gave me patience and that slow heart rate.”

Oswald Chambers, author of My Utmost for His Highest, has said, “Seeing is never believing; we interpret what we see in the light of ...read on

When he found that his teenage son had been viewing pornography, he was upset. The young man got defensive when he was confronted and said that all his friends watched pornography on their phones. A couple of guys that put pressure on him to watch had sent the links to him. The dad realized that getting angry was not going to help. He simply took his son’s phone and said they would talk later that evening.

The dad called a friend for advice. He was alerted to ...read on

The young man grew up in a home where his dad was physically present but alcoholism and a violent temper kept the dad distant. It was an emotionally and physically abusive home situation. There was no relationship with the dad, no encouragement and no affirmation for the boy. It was a steady stream of criticism, derision and discouragement.

A door opened to ...read on

I have a confession to make – I am not a native Texan. But as the bumper sticker reads, “I got here as quick as I could.” I was actually born and grew up in Missouri, the “Show Me State”. There are a lot of stories on the unofficial slogan for my home state. They all suggest that Missourians are seen as “somewhat stubborn and have a dedication to common sense.” In Missouri, actions definitely speak louder than words.

With a new ball and glove, the boy said, “Show me how to throw Dad!” ...read on

Their daughter came home from school crying, “All my friends hate me!” as she ran to her room and slammed the door. One of the biggest challenges a dad and mom face in the transition from the ‘Teacher’ season, the first ten years of a child’s life, to the ‘Coach’ season, the second ten years, is providing a healthy perspective on relationships.

Mom understood the low their daughter was experiencing – girls she thought of as friends had ...read on

The preacher asked, “Do you take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife, for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to hold until death do you part?” The young man said, “I do!” with all the commitment that vow required of him. A commitment he would regularly hold himself accountable to as the years passed.

Children that grow up in a home where such a commitment of love is lived out every day assume ...read on
