Teacher Season

You have exactly 936 weeks from the birth of your child until they turn 18. In this five-part series, Rick W. introduces the “Teacher Season”—the first 10 years of a child’s life where a father’s influence is most critical. Using the powerful visual of a jar of marbles, Rick reminds us that time goes by quickly, and by age 10, more than half of those “marbles” (weeks) are already gone.

This study is a call to intentionality. Despite the distractions of a starting career or a young marriage, dads are called to capitalize on this window of time to instill family values and faith before the “Coach Season” begins.

Session 1

PASS the BATON

In a relay race, the most critical moment isn’t the running—it’s the transition. If the baton is dropped, the race is lost. In fatherhood, you are carrying the baton of faith, character, and legacy. Part 1 of this study focuses on how to hand off that baton successfully to your children.

Session 2

Routine

In the rush of the “Teacher Season,” it’s easy to let the days manage you instead of you managing the days. Part 2 of this study focuses on creating a home environment where the most important things—faith, connection, and character—get the best of your time, not the leftovers.

Session 3

Play

Have you ever noticed that when Dad plays, things get a little louder, a bit faster, and a lot more active? That is by design. Part 3 of our study explores the unique way fathers interact with their children through play and why it is essential for their development.

Session 4

Pray & Read

In the “Teacher Season,” faith is caught more than it is taught. This part of the study focuses on how a father can model a vibrant spiritual life and lead his children into their own personal relationship with God.

Session 5

Responsibility & Blessing

As the “Teacher Season” draws to a close, a father’s role shifts toward launching. Part 5 of this study focuses on equipping your child with a sense of ownership over their life and covering them with the spiritual authority of a father’s blessing.
